ALUMNUS OF THE MONTH

This month’s Alumnus of the Month spotlight belongs to

Samantha (Sam) Heimgartner, Class of 2010.

Following her time at Routt, Sam, daughter of Peter Heimgartner and Debbie Benton, attended Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville where she majored in International Business with a minor in German. Sam currently lives in Orlando, FL, where she works as an email specialist for GolfNow, a division of Golf Channel. Says Sam, “GolfNow is the world’s leading tee time marketplace allowing golfers to book tee times online at over 6,000 courses, worldwide.” Sam works directly with an international GolfNow team located in Belfast, Ireland, along with Qantas
Golf Club, an international partner of GolfNow, located in Australia. “Day to day I am building and sending all international business-to-consumer emails…building and coding emails isn’t necessarily something I went to school for, however, it is a position I sort of fell into at GolfNow. This not only has allowed me to learn new skills such as HTML/CSS, but has also allowed me to work very closely with our international teams, which I really enjoy!”

Having always had a passion for traveling, Sam has spent the last few years taking advantage of any opportunity she can to see different parts of the world. “Through traveling I have also acquired a new passion for photography – which is still a work in progress!” Fans can check out Sam’s photography on Instagram, @somewhere_sam.

In the little bit of remaining spare time that she has, Sam has recently started a clear kayak tour company, Get  up and Go Kayaking – Rainbow Springs, located in Dunnelon, FL, which is a franchise of Get Up and Go Kayaking. “The springs are made from water rising from underground to the surface, which as a result creates crystalline waters – perfect for clear kayaks! Guests have the opportunity to experience the picturesque paddle, as well as see an abundance of wildlife” including (but not limited to!) turtles, gators, and otters. We wish Sam
good luck in this endeavor and can’t wait to follow along online at
www.getupandgokayaking.com/rainbowsprings, and also on Instagram,
@getupandgorainbowsprings

While her favorite memories of high school specifically include going to state in basketball 3 out of her 4 years, her overall experience at Routt Catholic is something she will never forget. When
asked about her time spent at Routt, Sam says, “Routt being such a close family helped me realize my full potential early on. Having such a strong support system around you is so important, and I feel the Routt community does an amazing job at that for all of its students…the memories I made there will always hold a special place in my heart.”
