School Description
Routt Catholic High School is a co-educational, independent Catholic high school in the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois whose bishop is Bishop Thomas John Paprocki. Routt is located at 500 E. College Ave. adjacent to Our Saviour Church located in Jacksonville, Illinois. The 108 year old facility includes a chapel, library, multi-purpose room, guidance offices, development offices, gymnasium and a weight room. The school also has a computer equipped business education lab, a science lab, an art classroom, computer-equipped media center, several classroom mini-labsand a band/chorus room.
Routt shall admit students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
Also, the school will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic and other school administered programs.
Routt Catholic High School is operated as a not-for-profit institution by the Catholic Diocese of Springfield, Illinois and is governed by a Board of Limited Jurisdiction making the school an “independent Catholic high school”. All revenue is used for the care of students, salaries of teachers and personnel, maintenance of buildings and grounds and improvements.

Enrollment for the current school year is 115 students. There are 32 seniors, 31 juniors, 25 sophomores and 27 freshmen.

Grading
Routt uses a letter grading scale. A semester grading period consists of two quarters. At the semester, grades are used to determine class rank. Honor and Advanced Placement classes are weighted. View Routt's Grading Policy

Accreditation
Routt Catholic High School is accredited by The North Central Association of Secondary
Schools and Colleges and the Illinois State Board of Education. Routt’s last accreditation review was done in the spring of 2010.

Religious Instruction
Religious experiences both in and beyond the classroom are integral to RCHS. These experiences are coordinated by the administration, the campus minister, and the theology teachers. These experiences include but are not limited to the following: all school and class Masses, prayer services and all-school paraliturgical services, reconciliation, speakers, religious counseling, vocation days, service projects, etc.
The all-encompassing goal is to prepare young Catholic men and women of RCHS to assume roles of service and leadership within the Catholic Church and to nuture those of all faiths.

Financial Information
Tuition Assistance
Tuition assistance is provided directly by Routt Catholic High School based solely on need. All students (families) are eligible to apply for assistance through the confidential process provided by Private School Aid Service (PSAS). Assistance applications for the next school year may be picked up at registration or from the bookkeeper. Students must be registered to receive the application.
Scholarships
Routt has several scholarship funds that have been established by individuals and families to benefit Routt students. Many of our scholarships do not require an application. Recipients are selected by Routt administrators and faculty after reviewing each scholarship’s specifications. Scholarships that require applications or essays to be written are indicated and the required forms are available online or when you register. Most scholarships are awarded in the spring for the following year, and a student must be registered to be eligible. To view a current list of scholarships for the 2011-2012 school year, click here.
Individual parishes may also offer tuition assistance
In addition to these scholarships, several families have funded endowments to help with general tuition assistance that Routt Catholic High School provides to all eligible families. Illinois Education Expense Tax Credit
Families may also be able to claim the Education Expense Credit on their Illinois tax forms to recover up to $500 of the expense of providing a Routt education. Eligible expenses are tuition and book and lab fees. The bookkeeping office mails these forms to families.
Tuition
Tuition for the 2011-12 school year is $3,700 plus $200 fees. The fees cover:

$50 in Textbook Fees
$50 in Student Activity Fees (At Student Orientation, Routt issues each student an
activity pass good for admission to all games, plays, musical performances, etc., held during the school year.)
Routt Catholic High School provides three options for payment of tuition and fees: Option 1—full payment in June, Option 2—make two equal payments (one in July and one in December), and Option 3—eleven monthly payments. Two payment and monthly payment plans are managed by FACTS, requiring an additional management fee.

Scrip
Families can participate in the Scrip program sponsored by Our Saviour Grade School (OSS) and apply the rebate credit toward Routt tuition payments. Through Scrip, families purchase gift certificates to popular retailers. The purchaser receives full value of the certificate, and OSS receives a rebate. OSS then applies 50 percent of the rebate to the purchaser’s account. In March, the purchaser may apply the total in the account to a student or school organization. (No one is allowed to receive a monetary rebate.)

Athletics
Routt Catholic High School is a member school of the
Illinois High School Association and is also a member of the Western
Illinois Valley Conference. Boy's sports include football, basketball,
golf, swimming and baseball. Girl's sports include volleyball,
basketball, swimming, softball and cheerleading. Co-ed activity includes
the scholastic bowl team and that team actively participates in the
WIVC and IHSA scholastic bowl meets. The 2008 Routt boys baseball team
are the 2008 Class 1A State Baseball Champions. The 2010 Routt girls basketball team placed 2nd in the State Class 1A Championship. Questions regarding
athletics may be directed to Routt's athletic director.
