Goals to Achieve

To teach students about their faith, to provide experiences prayer and liturgy that bring students closer to God, to motivate students to model their lives on the life of Jesus Christ, to encourage students to serve others and look for opportunities for service, to create a Christian community of respect of Routt Catholic High School.

Courses

THEOLOGY II
GRADE 10
Credits: .50 • One Semester
Required

Students will continue their study of basic Catholic beliefs. With emphasis on morality; this is a basic study to clarify Christian values and vision for students. The focus is on developing an understanding of what morality is and the importance of different facets of character in living a moral life. Students learn skills to develop those facets of life (i.e., wise judgment, courage, wholeness, honesty, etc.). Students experience the use of these skills through units with applied current events or situations.

RELIGIOUS FINE ARTS II
GRADE 10
Credits: .50 • One Semester
Required

This course continues Religious Fine Arts I, exploring religious history and spirituality through art, architecture and music. Students will learn the skills such as glass cutting and printmaking and will further their expertise in the use of various art media and techniques.

SOCIAL JUSTICE
GRADE 12
Credit: .50 • One Semester
Required

The teachings of Jesus and his Church in the struggles for justice and peace in our world today are examined. The student will be invited to make connections, deepen awareness, develop responsibility, spark compassion, and act conscientiously, in order to become a thoughtful world citizen and a mature Christian. Students’ benefit from speakers and multi-sensory instruction.

WORLD RELIGIONS
GRADE 12
Credit: .50 • One Semester
Required

Students study an overview of the world’s major religions as compared to Christianity. Emphasis is given to the impact of these religions on the student’s world today. Students benefit from speakers and multi-sensory instruction.
