Spanish I
GRADES 9 - 12
Credit: 1 • Full Year
Prerequisites: Above average ability; good/excellent English skills
Spanish 1 introduces the student to the basic grammar and vocabulary of the language and to the culture, history, and geography of the regions being studied. These goals will be achieved using reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills
Spanish II
GRADES 10 - 12
Credit: 1 • Full Year
Prerequisites: Above average ability; good/excellent English skills; successful completion of Spanish I with a grade of “C” or better
Spanish II is a continuation of the concepts covered in Spanish I. New grammatical tenses will also be covered and incorporated with prior tenses. Reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills will be improved upon.

Syllabi
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATIONS: inappropriate classroom behavior including: talking during class will be dealt with as follows:
1st offense during class: warning
2nd offense:5 point reduction in daily participation grade
3rd offense: Parent will be notified /after school detention will be given
GRADING CRITERIA: students will be graded on daily written and oral work,quizzes, tests, and projects.Each student will be given a daily grade of 10 points for class participation,preparedness and good behavior. A reduction in points will result for disruptive/inattentive behavior. Quizzes will be given weekly on material covered. students will be graded on daily participation in class, oral, written assignments weekly quizzes and tests. All activities oral, and written exercises and testing are cumulative and equally important to the student's overall mastery of the Spanish language.
HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS: students need to practice using spanish everyday both orally and written for retention and fluency. Therefore, any late assignments will be penalized as follows; one day late will subtract 10 points from grade; two days late will result in 0 points. Excused absences will be given 1 day make-up for each day missed. I recommend if you are absent that you make effort to get your missed assignments before you return so you don't fall behind. In accordance with the students handbook, missed tests or quizzes will be taken on the day you return to school.
EXTRA CREDIT OPPROTUNITIES:I will be including some opportunity to earn extra credit at various points throughout the semester. I recommend every student to do the extra credit; it can't hurt your grade but it can help.
Materials required:
1: 3-hole binder-2 1/2 to 3 inch.
2: 3 hole pocket folders.
3: Package wide ruled theme paper.
4: Sharpened pencils with erasers.
5: Red ink pens.
